Yesterday I fell in love. I stumbled across the most amazing place, Espresso Cafe, hidden away in a corner of Newcastle. I cannot believe I did not know about it until now. It really is a hidden gem.
The cafe is owned by Turhan, a man full of energy and passion, all of which is reflected in the cafe’s decor. The colours embody the latino culture, bright and fiesty. The whole atmosphere that is created just blows you away. Far removed from the abundance of coffee chains that litter our streets….
We really do need to stop lining the pockets of these massive corporations and start supporting individuality, entrepreneurship and culture. To have coffee prepared and served by someone who is a barista and who adds that personal touch, makes the coffee even better.
Nevertheless, the coffee at Espresso Cafe is absolutely lush in its own right. The coffee is from Matthew Algie, an internationally recognised coffee supplier who ensures that all the coffee is fairtrade, organic and rainforest alliance.
It is smooth and rich without that nasty bitter taste we get way too often.
To really understand what I mean, you have got to go there. And once you go, you will adopt it as your new regular cafe. I know I have.
